move technology GmbH took second place among eleven participating teams at the AI Energy Hackathon held at the TRAFO Hub in Braunschweig. During the two-day event, an interdisciplinary team comprising engineering and software development specialists created an AI-powered prototype for construction project management within 24 hours.
The hackathon brought together companies, industry experts and developers to devise solutions to real-world challenges. It was the company’s first time participating in a hackathon of this kind.
The challenge focused on identifying resource waste on construction sites and reducing it through data-driven measures. The move technology team developed an application that automatically consolidates, structures and analyses information from construction logs, weather data, machinery activity, photographs and other project sources.
Based on this information, the application generates a construction site score that provides project managers and construction supervisors with a daily assessment of project progress and potential deviations. This approach makes construction documentation digitally usable, particularly where it was previously analogue, insufficiently structured or distributed across different systems. Using a predefined work breakdown structure, an integrated AI assistant can also derive initial recommendations for action and propose adjustments to the project schedule.
“The hackathon provided us with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our expertise under real-world time constraints and competitive conditions. Our aim was not simply to develop a technical concept, but to create a practical solution to a specific challenge.
