move technology and team successfully selected for incubation phase at “Lab of Tomorrow 29” with “2nd Harvest Energy”

Saxony-based move technology GmbH and its Kenyan representative successfully participated in the Ideation Sprint of Lab of Tomorrow 29 in Kenya. The project proposal “2nd Harvest Energy,” developed jointly with other local companies, was selected for the incubation phase of the program following the sprint.

The concept was developed during intensive work phases on site. With the significant involvement of local move technology colleague Bavon Ojwang, an interdisciplinary team developed a solution model that specifically addresses current challenges in the Kenyan e-mobility market.

With the increasing use of electric vehicles in various areas of application, there is already a growing need in Kenya for local structures for the repair, second life, and remanufacturing of EV batteries. The aim of the project is to address this need at an early stage and to establish sustainable, economically viable circular models.

“2nd Harvest Energy” combines the technological expertise of move technology GmbH with the local market knowledge and implementation capacities of Kenyan partners. The focus is on practical, scalable solutions that support both ecological impact and economic development.

Next step: the incubation phase

The project will be further developed during the upcoming incubation phase, which will last up to six months. Plans include refining the technical and economic concept, preparing a minimum viable product (MVP), developing a robust business and impact model, and laying the groundwork for market entry and scaling in Kenya.

The Lab of Tomorrow is an innovation program run by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Its aim is to support companies in developing marketable solutions to global challenges – with a clear focus on local impact and feasibility. The program receives additional funding from the Siemens Foundation. move technology would like to thank the teams at Lab of Tomorrow, GIZ, and BMZ for their professional organization of the program and for the strong network of business, innovation ecosystem, and local stakeholders.
