Hyper-personalized learning and training for Saxony’s hydrogen future

We are creating an innovative educational platform on the future topic of hydrogen!

The HYDROGENGALAXY is a digital learning platform that aims to accompany the profound change in vocational training and the challenges of the energy transition, with a special focus on sustainable energy sources such as hydrogen.

The HYDROGENGALAXY offers flexible learning content that adapts to individual learning objectives and knowledge levels and supports both beginners and experienced professionals, as well as practical training and customized learning modules that promote knowledge transfer and are directly applicable in everyday working life.

The overarching goals of HYDROGENGALAXY are to secure skilled workers, support structural change and strengthen the competitiveness of Saxony as a location for industry and innovation.

The grant is made available from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) and from tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.

Results of the educational needs analysis

As part of the product definition for HYDROGENGALAXY, move technology examined the specific requirements of the hydrogen industry in central Saxony and the professional qualification needs of local companies in the project regions of Chemnitz, Zwickau, and Leipzig. The results show, for the first time, a broad interest in learning across all occupational groups.

The findings impressively underscore that hydrogen is no longer a niche topic.

The experts surveyed unanimously confirm the high potential of hydrogen for the energy transition. Over 80% of respondents expect a need for further training in the short or medium term.

Hydrogen is no longer just a topic for technicians and engineers, but now appeals to a wide range of target groups.

There are only a few lecturers in the H2 field nationwide. This is a massive bottleneck for scaling.

Occupational safety and technical hazard management are the top priorities. Every H2 qualification must include safety aspects and comparative risk assessments.

Respondents want a modern, intuitive, clearly structured e-learning experience for learning the basics and theory, with flexible timing. However, real-world hydrogen applications, practical cases and experiences from pilot projects, accident prevention training, and exercises on real fuel cell/electrolyzer systems are also key requirements. A combination of online knowledge transfer and practical classroom sessions is therefore considered optimal.
